I've been using word pad to write my essays so far this semester. It's a bit hard to write proper formatted essays with all the requirements the teachers want. If I can't find ms office 2003 then I guess I have to use 07. How well does jaws 8.0 work with it? I'm not about to give up the old win xp.
I'm using jaws 8.0.2173.

I would say try to find office 2003 if you can. Look on amazon.com or perhaps tiger direct.com. jaws 8 should work quite well and even with office 2007 although it might be a bit slower then 2003. I have 2007 on a computer and really would have prefered 2003 but as an adaptive techh instructor need to be on the bleading edge.

Guess I'd do that if Office 2003 was compatible with Vista, but I guess it's too old. I think we had it for our now past its best desktop, but that was XP and I don't think Office 2003 geled too well with our laptops when we tried loading it as those're Vista. I'm hopefully, about to upgrade to Jaws 9 for the sake of my new job with Mcmillan Nurses myself, as I know for a fact, the menus in Microsoft Word don't like JAWS (or the other way round, lmfao).

If you need to format papers properly, I'd say until you get this situation resolved, try using HJPad. it's a utility that comes with jaws and is essentially a stripped down version of ms word. You can find it under jaws, and it will be the bottom option called run HJPad. It won't solve all of your problems, but you can do bolding, underlining, and things of that sort. If you have used MS word previously, you won't have to learn anything new, as most of the keyboard commands are the same. I can't offer much in the way of office 2007/jaws, since the last version of office 2007 I used was a beta version, but I figured I would throw that temperary solution in there.

Oh neat! it has spellcheck. Something word pad does not have.
